This pattern is beginner friendly, using a combination of the basic stitches, and worked in 1 piece to add the ribbing at the same time as creating the hand covering making it a quick pattern to stitch up too.

Autumn Poppy Crochet Fingerless Gloves Pattern

There is something special about stitching up a crochet pattern that is practical but also pretty – I feel that makes a project more fun to stitch up!

As this pattern is also quick to make, you can have a pair of this crochet fingerless glove pattern completed in a long afternoon too.

The pattern is written for 2 different adult sizes, but it’s also easy to adjust the beginning of the pattern to make the gloves longer or shorter, or increase of reduce the size around the hand too.

This free crochet fingerless glove pattern was designed using a specially hand dyed yarn by High Desert Yarn, and is releasing as part of the Autumn Poppy Crochet Along, where 4 patterns were designed to highlight the beauty hand dyed yarn.

As had dyed yarn can be quite an investment, both Joanna of High Desert Yarn and I wanted to keep the yardage used in our patterns as low as possible, so these gloves are stitched up in one piece, working side-to-side, with the cuff made at the same time to make that yarn go further.

This crochet beanie pattern was designed using DK weight/Size 3 yarn and can be recreated in any animal fibre or acrylic synthetic fibre that you can achieve the same gauge/tension with, without adjusting the pattern.

If you’d like to substitute the yarn for an alternative weight, click here to find out more about how to adjust a pattern achieve the same finished size.

To achieve the same slouchy fit and drape of the crochet fabric, it is recommended to recreate the pattern with a Size 3/DK weight yarn.

I used Cloudcroft Super Wash Merino hand dyed by High Desert Yarn in 2 shades that gave a great finished look:

  • Autumn Poppy – a variegated yarn where the colour pools as you stitch it up
  • Rose – a semi tonal yarn that matches one of the shades in the Autumn Poppy
