The granny stitch is what is always most associated with non-crocheters. From the 1970's inspired granny square cardigans through to traditional granny square blankets!

The granny square tends to be one of the 1st things that beginners learn to crochet, and doesn't hold much favour with the modern styles seen today. Although, seeing Jason Momoa rocking a granny square vest has certainly lifted the humble granny square to new heights in fashion!

I have always loved the granny stitch, no doubt you have seen it feature in countless crochet patterns I have designed. Well, this granny stitch star is born through a combined love of the granny Stitch and Christmas!

Holly Leaf Pattern

It's a super quick crochet project, that can be completed in less than 20 minutes (and less than 10 minutes once you've completed your first star).

You can make 9 stars and string them together with some LED fairy lights to create a festive garland, or join them to create a table runner or blanket.

Like all crochet appliques, the possibilities are only as limited as your imagination!
