How to crochet a Half Treble Crochet (HTr), in the US it's known as a Half Double Crochet (HDc) I used a 4mm crochet hook and DK yarn. You can learn using any yarn you have and corresponding crochet hook. So welcome back to another crochet tutorial with CozyRosieUK. Today we're doing a half treble crochet
0:15
The US term is a half double crochet. Again I'm using a 4mm crochet hook and a DK weight yarn
0:23
You can use any yarn to practice with and I've started by just by doing a chain of 10
0:29
So once again you can see the little V's and we're going to work into the top of the chain
0:36
So the turning chain for a half treble crochet is a chain 2. So this means we're going to be
0:43
working into the third chain from the hook. So we don't count this loop on our hook
0:50
So there's our first chain, there's our second. We're going to start by bringing
0:55
the yarn over the hook and inserting our hook into that third chain
1:03
We're going to bring that yarn over the hook towards you and just bring up a loop
1:10
So we've got three loops on our hook, just the same as we have with a treble
1:15
crochet. But instead of working through just these first two loops, this time
1:20
we're going to yarn over the hook, pull it down slightly and bring that wool through each and every loop on our hook
1:27
So through all three loops and that completes the stitch So bring the yarn over towards you we going to insert the hook into that top of the next chain yarn over the hook and bring it back through that stitch
1:47
We've got three loops on our hook. We're going to yarn over and bring it through all three loops of our hook
1:55
Yarn over the hook, insert it into that next chain, yarn over the hook and bring it back through to bring your loop up so that you have three
2:06
loops on your hook, yarn over towards you and pull through all three loops on your hook. Yarn
2:15
over the hook, insert it into that next chain, yarn over the hook to bring that loop up, yarn
2:24
over and pull through all three. If you pull down ever so slightly you'll create
2:30
a little bit more space to bring that hook through that stitch. So yarn over
2:36
insert into that next chain, yarn over the hook to bring that loop back through
2:43
yarn over the hook and pull through all three loops on your hook and that's your
2:49
half treble crochet. Yarn over the hook, insert that hook into that next chain
2:56
yarn over to bring that loop up, yarn over and pull through all three loops on
3:04
your hook. into the final one here yarn over insert into that final chain yarn over to bring that loop up yarn over pulling down ever so slightly just to pull through all three loops on your hook
3:32
As you can see, we should have, we've started with a chain of 10, we should end with eight
3:40
half trebles because we had a turning chain of two at the beginning. So we've
3:45
got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven and eight. So to start working back down
3:56
the row the other way we're going to chain two. So yarn over your hook, bring
4:01
it through the loop on your hook and we'll do that twice for a chain two. Turn
4:07
your work and then we're going to go into that first stitch which is just there. We've
4:13
got the chain one, chain two and there's our stitch. So yarn over the hook, insert the
4:19
hook under both loops of your stitch, yarn over, bring that loop back through so you've
4:25
got those three loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all three loops of your hook
4:34
over towards you insert the hook into that next stitch yarn over bring a loop
4:41
up yarn over pull through all three loops on your hook into the next one
4:52
Yarn over set that hook yarn over to bring that loop up yarn over pull through all three
5:07
This is one of my favourite stitches. I don't know why, well I do, it's nice and quick and it gives you a bit of height
5:14
but anyway. Yarn over, insert that hook into that next stitch, yarn over to bring a loop up
5:22
yarn over, pull through all three loops on your hook. So as we're coming to the end of that row, as always it's a little bit tricky to find out
5:35
exactly where you're going. So I tilt my work towards me just so I can see the V of that stitch
5:41
I yarn over and insert into that stitch, I have to encourage it sometimes that's fine
5:49
just making sure you've got both loops there as well. So yarn over, bring that loop back through, you've got three loops on your hook, yarn
5:59
over and pull through all three. If we're going to carry on we would chain two and then we're ready to carry on along
6:09
the next row. And that is how you do your half treble crochet, US term half double crochet
