Learn how to decrease your Double Treble (US Treble crochet) stitches with this easy to follow crochet stitch tutorial. Decreasing across 3 stitches is an important crochet technique to master if you are looking to create a zig zags or chevrons. It allows you to create different shapes in your crochet projects.
Decreasing across 3 stitches is usually used within a crochet pattern to create an angle or shape within your crochet project. If you've never use the stitch before, it might feel daunting, but just like decreasing across 2 stitches, the stitch will reduce your stitch count.
When you decrease 3 double treble crochet (US 3 treble crochet), within a pattern for shaping such as to create a chevron stitch pattern, you will find the stitch pattern asking you to 3DTr (work 3 double treble crochet into one stitch) to counter balance the stitch count.
The Double Treble crochet decrease is worked into the your previous row of stitches, across three neighbouring stitches. The DTr3Tog (UK) works those 3 stitches together, so there is only 1 stitch above the 3 stitches of the previous row.
The process of decreasing 3 crochet stitches, is similar the way you would decrease across 2 stitches:

Make a swatch of Double Treble crochet stitches to practice the stitch. You can follow this stitch tutorial to make your swatch.
Just like other decrease stitches, you just complete part of the stitches before beginning the next stitch and the stitch pattern you are following will advise how many stitches to decrease across.
