When you’re looking into how to crochet, Double crochet (US – Single crochet) is the most important stitch to learn as it is used in so many stitch patterns and crochet designs.

The double crochet stitch, known as the single crochet stitch in the US is the shortest of the basic stitches and the easiest to master. There are so many different ways to use the it. From crocheting in rows, in the round and even as an edging to your crochet project.s

Once you’ve made your foundation chain, you will be inserting the hook through the 2nd chain after the hook to begin your first from of double crochet (Dc).

For your second and subsequent rows, you will be working into the stitches you made in the previous row by inserting your hook under booth loops of the stitch.

In some crochet patterns, you will ask you to work into only one or the other loops of the stitch which will be written like this: BLO or FLO, which means back loop only or front loop only. This will be made very clear in the pattern. If you don’t see anything about working into different loops, you can safely assume that you are working into the whole stitch.
