Square Crochet Table Mat Pattern | Made by Nensi

It’s such a pleasure to welcome the talented Nensi who is sharing her design with us this month. Like many of us, Nensi has been crocheting for a number of years and stepped into crochet designing just a short year ago.

Her designs have a focus on is to inspire beginners to keep on making, showcasing that simplicity can be beautiful.

I’ll hand over this post to Nensi to properly introduce herself and share her pattern with us.

I am Nevena, the designer behind Made by Nensi. I have been crocheting for over 20y but designing officially (publishing, blogging and sharing) only about a year now.

It isn’t always a natural progression but it was for me, since I never followed a pattern ‘to a t’… I also love ‘free handing’ crochet, just taking a hook and a yarn I like and crocheting without an actual plan to what it will become.

This is difficult when you want to write up a pattern, so my process of designing takes a bit longer than usual. I am a mommy to a 2yo girl and an owner of a white ball of fluff that has a bark bigger than his size, called Simba.

I met and married the love of my life, bought a house and had a baby within 4 years of meeting him. If anything, I don’t waste time doing things…

I love seeing what people made using my patterns and I’m always up for a chat on IG, either for help with a pattern or just listening to a fellow yarnie…

The Easter and Christmas time are big in my family, and when I say big, I mean really big.

The whole family comes together and table is always elaborate and full of not only good food but beautiful décor as well. My mom and my aunt always put extra effort into looking for the best table settings or center pieces and I try to continue with the tradition.

Since I started crocheting 20+ years ago I added a small item that I either liked using someone’s pattern or I designed my own.

This year I designed a coaster and a placemat set which would be perfect for family dinners I imagine to have in my own home… I made it in the colors that remind me of spring and Easter but I plan to add a Christmas version to it (red, white and green, with the right amount of sparkle) as soon as I find time.

Spring is always special with everything waking up from flowers to animals, adding a much-needed color and warmth in our lives after the winter.
