How to crochet a treble crochet (Tr) in the US this is called at Double. (Dr) I used a 4mm crochet hook and DK yarn. You can learn using any yarn you have and corresponding crochet hook. Welcome to another crochet tutorial with Cozy Rosie UK

Today we're going to be doing a treble crochet. In the US this is called a double crochet
0:19
So I've already chained 10 so that we can work and do this stitch together
0:25
So we're going to work into the chain just by going into that top loop of the chain
0:29
the chain. Before we do any part of this stitch the first thing we're going to do is bring
0:33
the yarn over the hook first. We're then going to insert the hook into the third chain from
0:39
the hook. So this doesn't count our working yarn here. This is chain number one, chain number
0:46
two and we're going to insert our hook into chain number three just under that top loop of that
0:52
chain. Just pop your hook through, bring the yarn over the hook and bring it back through
0:59
that chain. That will give us three loops on our hook. We're going to yarn over the hook again
1:05
and just bring the hook through those first two loops on your hook. That leaves us with just
1:12
two loops. So we yarn over again and just bring that straight through to complete that stitch
1:19
So we going to work into that next chain So we yarn over the hook insert the hook underneath that loop of the chain yarn over the hook bring it back through that chain I going to straighten that up a bit And then we got those three loops on our hook
1:40
Yarn over the hook, pull down slightly as you bring it through those first two loops on your hook
1:46
yarn over again to bring it through those last two loops on your hook
1:52
Do one more together. So yarn over the hook, insert it into the next
1:58
top loop of the chain, yarn over the hook, bring it back through that chain, giving you three
2:05
loops on your hook. Yarn over, bring your hook through those first two loops on your hook
2:13
leaves you with two remaining loops, yarn over, and bring it through those last two hoops
2:20
I'm going to continue to work down the chain in exactly the same way, so yarning over, insert
2:26
the hook, yarn over, bring that loop back up to have three loops on your hook, yarn over
2:34
pull through two, yarn over, pull through two. So keep working down that chain and I'll
2:41
see you once you've, at the end of this row. So once we reached the end of our row it always worth just doing a quick count to check you have the right number of stitches
3:15
Now I started with a chain of 10 stitches and we skipped the first two chains to work into the third chain from the hook
3:24
So I should have eight stitches remaining. So ignoring the loop on my hook, we can see one
3:30
can see one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. And here we've got the equivalent of a
3:39
turning chain of those two remaining chains. So the turning chain that you need to get your hook up
3:46
to the height of your row is going for a treble or in the UK or a double in the US is a chain three
3:53
Now to ensure that we have nice neat edges, I'd recommend that you just chain two
4:00
So to chain, we bring the yarn over the hook and just bring it through the loop in your hook
4:05
and we do that for a second time to do the chain two. Now the reason we just chain two is that we're going to work into this stitch here
4:13
and it will give our edges a much neater finish. So we've got our loop on our hook that doesn't count
4:20
Chain one, chain two and there is the stitch that we're going to work into
4:25
So yarn over the hook first and then insert that hook under that hook
4:30
stitch yarn over bring that loop up yarn over bring it through those first two loops on your hook yarn over through the last two loops on your hook so that you left with one
4:44
Yarn over, insert that hook into that next stitch, making sure that you grab both loops of that stitch
4:51
Yarn over to bring that loop back up, yarn over, pull through those first two loops, yarn over, pull through two loops
5:02
And you can continue to work all the way down the previous row
5:07
So I again should finish with eight treble crochets on this row as well
5:17
Yarn over into that stitch. Yarn over, pull through two. yarn over, pull through two
5:55
So there we have that second row completed and that turning chain is nice and neat and no one would know
6:06
So that's how you do your treble crochet
