Which Pattern Should I Make? | 2 Crochet Stockings
There are only a few rows different between the 2 versions with the version with the diamond section being marked as slightly more advanced due to the post stitches.
It is completely your choice which version of the stocking to stitch up – of course, I’ll be encouraging you to make 2 stockings and giving the diamonds a go. Like all new techniques, a little practice goes a long way.
Don’t forget that there are video tutorials to help you ensure your stitch placement is in the correct place along with sharing tips to make your stitches as tidy as possible for the best finish.
What Yarn is Best to make a Crochet Christmas Stocking?
This pattern was designed using bulky / chunky weight yarn, but you can use any weight yarn to stitch up this pattern. Using an acrylic fibre will give you that snuggly look but please be aware that fibre/material is not suitable to be near a heat source (fire) for any length of time.
I used Paintbox Yarns, Simply Chunky which is available from Lovecrafts.com. This yarn is a value yarn that out performs on so many fronts:
- Huge colour choice
- Great stitch definition
- Tightly wound strands which makes it easy to work with
If you’ve never tried Paintbox yarns, you’ll fall in love at first stitch when you do.
Which Colours Work Best?
This pattern can be worked up in just one solid colour, 2 colors or even striped! You are only limited by your imagination.
The pattern is written showing you how to work it up in 2 different colours, working the different sections in 2 alternating colours.
Choosing your colours can allow you to be as wild as you like or you can stick to those more traditional holiday colours. Red and white is always a classic, but you can stick to your own holiday colours – soft pink and grey is very popular combo at the moment!
