Crochet Remembrance Poppy Pattern

Stitch up a crochet Remembrance Poppy with this free crochet pattern This pattern has been designed for the Remembrance Poppy display for Duston Parish Council.

The Colours of Remembrance Poppies

This crochet Remembrance Poppy pattern can be recreated in different colours, and each colour represents a different element of remembrance.

  • Red – the red poppy is used to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives in World War One and the conflicts that have followed
  • Purple – the purple poppy is often worn to remember animals that have been victims of war
  • White – some people feel that the red poppy glorifies war and conflict, and instead they might choose to wear a white poppy
  • Black – the Black Poppy Rose commemorates the contributions of black, African and Caribbean communities to the war effort; as servicemen and servicewomen, and as civilians.

Duston Community Display

Cosy Rosie UK and the Fibre Arts Friends group have been asked to create an extension to the Poppy Cascade that sits in the centre of Duston Village, arranged by the Duston Parish Council.

We would love for you to stitch up some poppies and send them to the centre to help us complete this community project.
