Is there anything more festive than hanging a stocking on the mantel or at the end of your bed, ready for Santa to fill it with gifts?

These cute crochet stockings maybe mini in size, but they pack a punch in the holiday décor stakes!

Here are a few more ideas on how you can use them:

  • You can use individual ones and pop them on the tree as cute handmade ornament
  • Stuff them with candy or chocolates and gift as a Secret Santa Gift
  • Slip in an individual hot chocolate sachet into the stocking and pop in to a holiday themed mug along with some mini marshmallows
  • String together multiples of stockings to create a garland.

Single Crochet Stocking Pattern

Each of the crochet stockings pictured above use the same stitch throughout - Single Crochet (UK double crochet)

The stocking is worked from the bottom up in 3 parts:

  • Toe/foot
  • Heel
  • Leg

The single crochet stitch is used throughout, except for the hanging loop which is made using a chain. It's the perfect crochet beginner friendly easy crochet stocking pattern.

The heel is not created in the traditional "turned heel" which can feel quite advanced if you've not worked that technique before; instead, the heel is simply worked in rows.

Below you will find the instructions for how to work the stocking in 3 different ways with just 2 colours:

  • Single colour stocking
  • Stocking with contrasting heel and toe
  • Stripy crochet stocking with additional instructions to create a jogless colour change for a more professional finish.
