How to Crochet With Faux Fur Yarn

Sweater Season is here! And as I'm not a fan of really cold weather, but a huge fan of keeping warm and cosy! Faux fur has become increasingly popular to add a touch of luxury to our coats and accessories, but faux fur yarn can be a challenge to crochet with.

There are 2 simple ways to make working with faux fur yarn easier:

  1. Work another strand of yarn alongside the faux fur yarn
  2. Use a slip stitch to attach the faux fur yarn to the top of the crochet fabric you've created

Like all new crochet techniques, practice makes perfect and the challenges faced when working with faux fur yarn was my inspiration behind the Elizabeth Faux Fur Accessory Collection.

The whole collection uses a beginner friendly way to featured faux fur yarn in our projects.

The collection of crochet accessories are named after the fashion icon that was Elizabeth Taylor. She has been revered and stylised time and again throughout her life and career! Fur has long been associated with glitz and glamour, but more recently associated with animal cruelty.  I am 100% against any form of animal cruelty and would consider myself a huge animal lover! The process required to acquire animal fur for clothing and accessories is horrid and I truly believe should be completely outlawed.

Modern techniques using manmade fibres have created wonderful faux fur yarns, which creates a great replica which screams of the elegance of Old Hollywood and allows us to showcase our glamorous style.
