Welcome to another crochet tutorial with Cozy Rosie UK

Today I'm going to be showing you how to make a magic circle or an adjustable ring, which is great for those projects when you're working in the round and you want a really nice clothes at the start of your project
0:24
Tends to be used a lot for projects like Amigurami style or dolls and that kind of thing
0:29
kind of thing. So to make the magic ring, we simply start by putting the working yarn into the left
0:34
hand and we bring that loop over from the right. Drop the working yarn behind and grab it between
0:41
your third and your fourth finger. Reach through that loop you've made and grab the working
0:47
yarn, bringing it up through the loop. Tilt your hand, your left hand up to yarn over the hook
0:54
and just bring it through that loop on your hook. There we go. As you can see the work, the tail yarn's a bit twisted. You can just unwrap that from inside the ring and you're ready to start working in there. Your pattern may ask you to chain one to secure
1:12
Simply do that if it asks you to and then you're ready to start working into your ring
1:18
Doing a couple of double crochets to show you. Once that all done and you done all the stitches that you need to do untwist your tail yarn again and just pull to tighten And here one I made earlier for you to show you just how tight that does become
1:43
So let's make another one of these. Just snip that off. So with your tail yarn in your left hand
1:51
make a loop round with your right, drop the tail yarn behind
1:57
your working yarn, sorry, behind and secure it between your third and your fourth finger
2:01
third and your fourth finger. Reach through with your hook to pick up that working yarn, turn your
2:08
left hand up to yarn over and pull through that loop on your hook. If you make it too tight
2:17
it makes it challenge. Bring that back, there we go. There we go. And that's it done. Untwist that
2:24
tail yarn from the middle and you're good to go. You can start working in the middle of your magic
2:31
ring, your adjustable ring. I think it's important to know that it won't, and if it does come
2:35
undone as you're working with it, that's fine. You can just try and make it again. I must admit
2:40
I did a lot of practice of these when I first learned how to do it, but for me this is the quickest
2:45
way to secure to make that magic ring and work into the middle. So you can drop it and it
2:53
comes off the hook and it's still fine to work with. As long as you untwist your tail yarn
2:59
you'll be able to adjust the ring, make it larger or smaller as you need to when you're working in there

It's a really good skill to have as a crocheter to be able to make the magic ring
