Single Crochet Blanket Edging
This easy crochet edging is one of the quickest and easiest way’s to prepare crochet blanket squares for joining or simply adding a contrasting edging to you blanket.
This crochet edging technique uses just the US single crochet stitch and this article will take you through where to place your stitches to create an even number of stitches on all sides – even when crocheting into the ends of your rows.

Jolly Holiday Blanket Crochet Along
This tutorial and edging video tutorial is from the Jolly Holiday Blanket, a filet crochet Christmas blanket pattern where up to 12 different crochet blanket panels can be joined to create a blanket.
Colour Selection | Jolly Holiday Blanket

Easy Crochet Edging for Panels | Jolly Holiday Blanket
Skill Level: Easy
Materials:
- Any worsted /Aran weight acrylic yarn. I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran 100% Acrylic (100g (3.5oz), 184m (201 yds)) in the following shade:
- For the panel edging, I used the contrast colour that is then continued in the joining
- B- Champagne White (202)
- 5.5mm hook
- Scissors
- Darning needle
Abbreviations
US Terms (UK in brackets)
St(s) – Stitches
Ch – Chain
Ch sp – Chain space
Sc (Dc) – Single Crochet (Double Crochet)
Pattern Notes:

- Edging is worked in joined rounds.
- Beginning Ch 1 DOES NOT count as a stitch.
How to crochet a simple edging
Christmas Blanket Panel Edging
Round 1: RS facing.
- Join in corner at beginning sl st, ch 1,
- working in other side of beginning chain,
- sc in same and each across, ch 2,
- rotate to work in row ends,
- 60 sc evenly to next corner, ch 2,
- rotate to work across Row 30,
- sc in each st across, ch 2,
- rotate to work in row ends,
- 60 sc evenly to next corner, ch 2, join to 1st sc.
Fasten off, weave ends.
Once all panels have been made and edged, continue to Joining Panels.
Joining the Panels
Once you’ve edged all the panels, it’s time to join them together! The join I’ve created for this blanket uses the Mesh Stitch join to mimic the open filet crochet blocks.
