The Gloriosa Flame Summer Vest pattern is the latest edition to the Gloriosa Collection which has corresponding summer crochet patterns in the Bella Bralette and Bella Crochet Shorts too.

This sleeveless cardigan crochet pattern makes a great edition to your summer handmade wardrobe and has a generously oversized finish around the hips for the ultimate casual and comfortable fit.

The much loved Flame stitch features throughout this vest top and creates a lightweight element to the design.

The design also features the picot stitch to create the most stunning edging to the bottom of the vest.

What yarn is best for a summer cardigan?

You can use any yarn to make a summer crochet cardigan, but it’s worth considering the yarn fibres properties.

Any natural fibre would be the best to consider creating a summer wearable crochet project in, but I’d highly recommend using 100% cotton, a cotton blend or any soft plant based fibre.

Cotton is best for summer crochet wearables

Cotton is lightweight and great to wear in the warmer months – it is also absorbent which is great when we start to glow.

Sizing and Fit of this Sleeveless Summer Cardigan Pattern

The Gloriosa Sleeveless Vest Cardigan features a racer back, inspired shape that fits nicely around the back of the next for a comfortable wear with a wide opening under the arms to the waist.

This shape creates an oversized look around the waist and hips that can be styled with a belt or left loose for a relaxed look.

The size to make is calculated on bust size, with 2 inches of positive ease to ensure the bust can close at the front without compromising the beauty of the back panel.

Short Sleeve Cardigan

If you’d prefer a smaller fit around the waist, you can easily thread a belt through the waist to cinch it in.

Below you can see the vest featuring in the Crochet Fashion Week Show in Atlanta where it was paired with the Bella Bralette and Shorts.
