Crochet Rectangle Shrug

This easy crochet rectangle shrug is a the perfect weekend crochet project! It’s made using bulky (Aran) weight yarn and a 6mm crochet hook, to work up a rectangle and sew it together to create the cocoon shape to create a simple cozy shrug which is perfect to throw over any outfit for an extra layer of warmth.

Easy Crochet Rectangle Shrug | Premium Crochet Patterns

I am a huge fan of being warm and snuggly and this rectangle shrug creates the perfect cocoon cardigan to keep me warm and snuggly even on the coldest of days!

This pattern features a super-snuggly stitch pattern which uses 2 crossed double crochet alternating with rows of double crochet to ensure the fabric will keep you warm. There are video tutorials for all the stitches used within the pattern to help you complete your rectangle shrug.

You can also choose between two different lengths to make your cocoon depending on how long you want your cardigan to be – the one pictured is the shorter length.

I really believe that shrugs are one of those pieces of clothing that once you’ve made and worn one, you’ll fall in love with it’s easy wearability ! This shrug is perfect to throw over jeans and a long sleeved tee-shirt, or worn over a pretty, floaty dress paired with thick tights – the outfit possibilities are endless.

It’s even perfect for those lockdown days or lounging on the sofa, as a great alternative to your dressing gown! Pop this over your pyjamas, and you can consider yourself fully dressed!
