Pattern Inspiration

This free crochet blanket square pattern uses a combination of my favourite crochet stitches including:

  • granny stitch
  • puff stitches
  • mesh stitch

I have used these stitches in many of my crochet patterns – especially the granny stitch! When I was invited to join in the Granny Stitch Sampler Blanket event by the host, Madame.Stitch, I simply couldn’t resist creating a 12″ square to showcase my favourite stitches.

This granny square pattern also uses the half double crochet, worked into the 3rd loop – this unique stitch allows the front loop and back loop of the stitch in the previous row to show on the right side of the project, to create an interesting texture.

This crochet Afghan square pattern, is designed to look stunning regardless of if it’s worked in a single colour, or if each row is worked in a different colour – it gives maximum choice to make it your own!
