Free Crochet Triangle Shawl Pattern | Free Crochet Pattern
This easy crochet shawl pattern is worked into a triangle shape to add more way’s to style it over your jacket or coat, as it can be worn in so many ways.
This free crochet triangle shawl pattern adds a layer of warmth to any outfit as its made using worsted weight yarn and creates a solid fabric keeping out the cold winds.
There are many ways that a triangle shawl can be made. Here are some examples:
- From the Point out to the sides
- Usually a triangle with 2 sides the same size
- This style is created when increase stitches are worked on both sides of the middle point creating width on each side.
- From edge to edge
- Usually a triangle with 2 sides the same size
- Increase stitches are added on just one edge of the triangle causing one edge to get bigger, creating a straight edge along the top. The increase stitches can be worked down to create a large triangle, before decrease stitches cause the edge to reduce in size back towards the top.
- Asymmetrical
- A triangle with 3 sides of different lengths.
- This shape is usually created with no decrease stitches, the stitch count continues to increase all the way across one edge.
This pattern will show you how to crochet a triangle shawl that is worked from edge to edge, increasing and decreasing on the same side of the triangle.

The yarn I used in this pattern was kindly supplied by Furlscrochet.com and I selected to crochet this shawl with one of my favourite yarns; Wander Acrylic Yarn.
Furls Wander Yarn is a premium acrylic yarn with 100% acrylic fibres that has the most unbelievable sheen and gives a super smooth finish to projects. Click here to read my full review of this yarn.
When I searched through the large number of shades to choose from, I fell in love with the shade Festival – it’s so bright that it’s almost florescent!
I will admit that I was a little shocked when I saw the shade in real life, but paired with cooler shade, such as the Mist shade I used in this pattern, it creates the most fabulous accent colour!

It really is the most wonderful yarn to stitch up accessories, that are worn close to the skin.
The bead stitch also featured in one of the granny square patterns in the Hodgepodge Blanket CAL and proved to me a very popular stitch to work up.
