Love Heart Cushion | Free Crochet Pattern

This beginner friendly crochet pattern creates a squishy cushion that can be used in any room of your homes to show it a bit of love.

The cushion is created by making 2 panels that are crocheted together to join them, stuffing as you go, before working a final round of stitches in a contrasting colour to highlight the shape.

LOVE IS LOVE

Crochet is one of the biggest loves in my life - and I've designed lots of patterns that feature the love heart shape, created using different techniques.

One of my most popular patterns is the Show the Love Wall Hanging that uses the intarsia colour work technique to create a puff stitches in a contrasting colour without the headache of carrying the colour through the whole project. Click here to see this free pattern and create your own wall hanging.

There is also my original LOVE cushion that uses the tapestry technique, where the unworked yarn is carried along with the in-work colour. Click here to see this free pattern and create your own LOVE Cushion.

The same layout/chart for the LOVE cushion, was re-imagined to create a clutch bag that used filet crochet, where chain spaces create an image in crochet fabric. Click here to see this free pattern and create your own

Yarn used in this crochet heart cushion

I used a new to me yarn when creating this project - I always seem to go for pink when creating lovely patterns - it is my favourite colour after all. However, when I saw this yarn arrive in my local craft store, I couldn't resist the purple and lilac colours.

I've written up a full review of this yarn as I was my first time crocheting with this brand, so you can make a informed choice - click here to read my review of Wendy with Wool Super Chunky

One of my testers was unable to get hold of super chunky yarn, so opted to hold 2 strands of worsted (Aran) weight yarn together to create the same sized yarn. She chose to hold 2 different colors together, and I know you'll agree that it looks fabulous!

How to crochet a heart pillow | Pattern Details

Materials:

  • 200m Super Chunky/Size 6 yarn. I used Wendy Super Chunky with Wool - 25% wool, 75% acrylic (100g, 80m)

  • B - 1 x Pearl 5200
  • 8mm hook
