What’s the best material for crochet face scrubbies?
The best yarn to crochet face scrubbies in is 100% cotton due as cotton is absorbent and an easy care fibre.
Some people may find that using 100% cotton may not suit their skin as it can feel a little rough on the skin. In those instances, choosing a cotton/acrylic blend will be softer when used on the skin.
Acrylic yarn is not absorbent enough to be used on its own in face scrubbies, but when blended with cotton, it can create a softer face scrubbie that will work for more skin types.
How to use crochet face scrubbies
Crochet face scrubbies can replace any need for single use cotton balls or pads in the bathroom and be used as you would any other washcloth.
Prevent Product Wasteage
When using with a cream cleanser or micellar water, wet the face scrubbies before adding the product. This will prevent extra cleanser being absorbed by the face scrubby and stop product wastage.
Exfoliating
Cotton face scrubbies can be used while washing your face with soap or cleansing foam too – simply apply your product to the face as normal and with gentle circular motions across your face with the face scrubby, you’ll exfoliate at the same time as washing.
How to wash crochet face scrubbies
If you’ve used 100% cotton or a cotton blend, you can simply wash your used face scrubbies in your washing machine at the same time as your towels.
Place them into a mesh wash bag like this one on Amazon or you can stitch up your own using the soap saver pattern which is part of the Cotton Grass collection – releasing 21st July 2023.
