Houseplants are continuing to grow in popularity and they have always made a great house warming gift.

This easy crochet plant hanger pattern creates a great way to display your favourite plants and make your houseplant gifts extra special with a handmade element.

It’s also a quick crochet project that uses less than 60 metres of macramé cord and takes less than 1 hour to complete – who doesn’t love a quick make!

What to make with Macramé Cord?

There are so many crochet projects that you can make with macramé cord. Alongside this plant hanger, over the years I have made:

  • Handbags
  • Wall hangings
  • Cushions
  • Door mats

I simply love the look of macramé – everything about the style gives me all the boho, relax feels that create a cosy home, but I simply can not bring myself to make knots any yarn.

I don’t know about you, but I spend quite a lot of my time undoing knots in my yarn and just can’t purposely add more – no matter how pretty the end result will be.

Plus, when I can create a similar crochet macramé plant hanger with my crochet hook, why would I – haha!

Macramé cord is a hardwearing material that can take lots of use and is super strong – great for those crochet projects that will have feet on them, bare the weight of plant pots and can be left outside.

Most cords are made with 100% cotton and is available in lots of different sizes and thicknesses – this can make selecting the best cord to use a challenge though. I’ve included some alternatives to the cord I used for my projects that I know are the same or extremely similar in size.
