Ready to add on your sleeves?

Once you have seamed your panels and created the armholes, you are ready to add on your sleeves.

There are 3 options to create the sleeves in your own style:

  • Short, round
  • Long, round
  • Tapered

The choice is yours between the options, with the tapered version being slightly more advanced due to the decreasing required to create the shape – you already learned the decrease stitch when working your side panels to create your neckline.

You can see photos of the different sleeve options below to help you decide which sleeve type you’d like to make.

All versions of the sleeves can also have a ribbed cuff added to bring in the opening of the sleeve for a comfy fit.

When is the next section released?

All the sleeve options start with the same round 1, which can be found below so even if you’re looking to make the tapered sleeves, you can start them today.

The Round sleeve option (long or short) will be releasing on Friday 14th April 2023

The Tapered Sleeve option will be releasing on Saturday 15th April 2023.

Round or Tapered?

Firstly, take a look at all the sleeve options to choose which sleeve you would like to add to your cardigan.

Below you can see the short and long version of the round sleeve. I love the long round sleeves as they add extra volume to the cardigan that is so on trend at the moment.

The ribbing brings in the sleeve around the cardigan with options to adjust how much the sleeve hugs the wrist.

The short version can be as long or as short as you’d like. You can follow the pattern to create a sleeve that ends just above the elbow, or continue to add length to create a 3/4 length sleeve.

The tapered sleeve is a much more traditional style for cardigan sleeves so the option had to made available – it’s always good to have options.

Maybe you’ll add the round sleeves on to this cardigan and create a 2nd cardigan with tapered sleeves!

The image below shows the tapered sleeve on top of the round sleeve which clearly shows the different in volume of fabric around the cuff – both options show the added ribbing to bring the sleeve in for a fitted look around the wrist.
