3 Double Crochet Cluster Stitch (3Dc Cl)

Cluster stitches are created with 2 or more stitches of any of the basic crochet stitches. The 3 Double Crochet Cluster stitch works 3 stitches into the same stitch in a a similar way to how a Dc3Tog, but the cluster stitch does not reduce the stitch count in the row. As the cluster stitch is worked into the same stitch, the stitch count remains the same.

Cluster stitches are usually worked with the double crochet (UK treble crochet stitch) more than the other of basic crochet stitches. The 3 double crochet cluster stitch uses 3 stitches to make the cluster, creating a textured crochet fabric.

You will notice that the Dc3 Cluster stitch is worked almost the same way as the Dc3Tog stitch, but instead of working the stitch across 3 stitches of the previous row to reduce the stitch count, all 3 double crochet stitches are worked into the same stitch. This means that the cluster stitch doesn’t change the stitch count.
