Crochet Fashion Week 2023 – Atlanta

Crochet is Fashion – this fashion show will truly show the world how crochet can be everything rather than just an element in an outfit.

Crochet Fashion Week is the 1st ever fashion show to highlight the talents of crochet designers in their own right taking crochet to the next level.

I am a firm believer that fashion is for every body, and allows you to show your individual style and taste.

The joy of crocheting  your own clothes allows you to recreate something that has your own style stitched in.

I chose to focus on classic shapes that have been seen throughout the decades and expand on some existing pattern collections to create a more Spring- Summery take on these crochet patterns.

The Cosy Fashion Week Collection shows that

Crochet is not a cold weather hobby!

Over the last few years I have designed more garments for the warmer weather than ever – it all started with the All Meshed Up Cardigan – a short cropped cardigan that can easily dress up a casual out fit or be paired with a little black dress for an added layer of warmth on a colder night.

My style of designing continues to incorporates the all important elements of being size inclusive – all my garment patterns are sized from XS – 5XL.

They are all suitable for advanced beginners looking for a challenge and some would also be considered Easy.

To encourage more people to make their own crochet clothes, there will be a crochet along that starts in early March to crochet your cardigan – make sure you sign up to receive all the Cosy Rosie email news letters to keep in the know.

Gloriosa Sweater Pattern

The Gloriosa Flame sweater pattern is a perfect beginner project made by connecting shapes to create an oversized, comfy sweater that’s perfect for every weather situation.

The recommended yarn for this crochet sweater project is Lion Brand Coboo – a blend of bamboo from Rayon and cotton that creates a soft and smooth crochet fabric that’s ideal for warm weather wear.

Introducing the Gloriosa Pencil Skirt

Another beginner friendly pattern that creates classic that’s a flattering wardrobe staple that you’ll be wearing year round.

This pattern omits the Flame stitch that’s seen in the other patterns, but uses the ever popular Wattle stitch to create the glorious texture seen in the sweater.

The skirts construction is so simple – a little hand sewing is needed for the zipper but even I managed that and I’m not good a sewing.

I chose to use a different yarn weight for this skirt to achieve the right type of fabric – but it’s still suitable for warmer weather.

This skirt was made with Caron Cotton Angel Cakes which is an worsted/Aran weight yarn with 60% cotton, 40% acrylic blend.

This unique blend of fibres makes it an all-weather wear.

At first glance, the yarn has the look of a mini version of their ever popular blanket yarn, yet is lightweight!

The Bella Bralette released in summer 2022 and the shorts were due to follow. Well, they are finally ready!

The Bella Bralette is sized differently to most crochet bralettes; it uses the bra measurement to create a custom fit  and avoiding feeling too exposed (unless you want to be!).

The shorts are also customisable too! You can choose with length to create the shorts. They can be short, shorts as seen in the image or follow the instructions in the pattern to create the length you want.

The Bella shorts and bralette are a part of the Gloriosa Collection as they use the same Flame stitch as the other patterns – the name change is simply my way of thanking my model, Bella for being such a good sport with helping me in the design process.

Crochet Coverup pattern for summer

The final pattern in the Gloriosa Collection is a stunning summer vest pattern that can be styled for the beach or for a day shopping.

It features a racer style back panel and features the Flame stitch heavily to capture the lace detail created.

It has a loose, oversized fit around the waist to allow the front panels to be styled however you want.

This pattern is the one for detail as it makes the most of crochet picot stitches for an added touch along the lower edge of the pattern.

All Buttoned Up Collection

The All Buttoned up Collection started it’s life back in 2021 with a simple vest top that could be styled layered over a simple tee-shirt or styled on it’s own.

The collection has been expanded to include a figure hugging  dress that is worked in 3 separate pieces to create perfect fit.

The design allows you to size the top, waist and hip’s to fit your own shape to create a custom fit that perfect for your body.

If you’re more of a skirt lover over a dress, you will love the All Buttoned Up Skirt.

This 2000’s inspired design features a super flattering fit that skims over the hips down towards your knees and can easily be made longer to whatever length you prefer to wear.

The detail in the pockets can be highlighted with a contrasting lining – you will have to get that sewing needle out, but it’s worth it.View the All Buttoned Up Skirt Pattern

Bittersweet Margaret Skirt

This beautiful skirt simply had to be featured on the runway after being so well received when it released.

Inspired by the structured fashion of the 1960’s, the skirt features stunning boxed pleats to create an elegant fit that’s never out of fashion.

I’ve styled this skirt with a boob tube top, where the straps can be styled in many different ways but, you can pair this skirt equally well with any sweater of vest top to showcase your style.Find out more about the Bittersweet Margaret Skirt Pattern

Taking it back to the 70’s

One thing that I am known for is my love of granny squares and how to take them to the next level.

The Granny’s Skirt in a Twist is take a play on those traditional granny square garments and makes them playful to create a fun look.

The skirt has been teamed with a daring look, the Linen Chained Top. This backless masterpiece isn’t for the faint hearted, but I can see it being worn at beaches and pool parties around the world. Make the Linen Chained Top

The chain length is easily adjustable to create a top that is worn higher, or further around the back.

Of course the pattern for the Granny Square Skirt can be made as long as you like with the pattern giving you number of squares you need depending on size plus 4 different length options:

  • Micro (pictured)
  • Mini
  • Knee length
  • Below the knee

There is nothing I love more than making the traditional granny square and making it modern.
