There aren’t many people who don’t enjoy catching some of that warm sun on their skin, but it’s always recommended to shade your head and face from the harsh rays.

When I was younger, I was frequently sun burnt along the parting in my hair so adopted wearing sun hats from an early age.

This classic summer hat pattern features a large brim and is sized for all the family:

This easy crochet summer pattern uses only the Half Double (treble) crochet stitch but with the crochet spiral technique to create a spiral hat and a striped effect across the brim.

Easy Crochet Summer Hat Pattern with Brim

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Materials:

Any DK/size 3 natural fibre yarn or yarn blend. I originally used Rico Natur 100% Hemp (50g/100m) but this yarn is unusual yarn so you can also use any cotton/cotton blend
A – Light Brown

B – Cream

This pattern in worked in a spiral without joining, using a stitch marker is highly recommended to mark 1st stitch of round and move up as worked.

Please be aware of colour change indications – the color changes are NOT made at the start of the round.
To change colour, pull up a large loop after last stitch, place loop of next colour on hook and continue in next stitch.
Take a moment to go through the pattern and highlight the stitch counts for your size which will be written in size order after Round 9. e.g 1-3 years (3-12 years, Adult, Large Adult)

How to make a Spiral Crochet Summer Hat with Brim
