Take it on the Hip Poncho | Premium Crochet Patterns

I was recently gifted some Wonderfluff Ombre cakes from WeCrochet and I am so grateful to have had a chance to play with this yarn!

The Wondferfluff yarn has the most amazing combination of fibres; its 70% baby Alpaca, 7% Merino and 23% Nylon. It's so pillowy soft!

We all know that animal fibres are the best for keeping in heat in garment patterns, so this blend of natural fibres with the nylon for added strength makes it a perfect winter yarn! Click here to read my full review of this yarn.

When you add in the ombre effects from the yarn cakes which are lovely, long colours changes, you'll go a long way looking to such a great, fluffy yarn.

This chunky crochet poncho pattern is a perfect beginner crochet project as there is a simply stitch repeat which is a variation on the double crochet stitch and also features the V-Stitch as a cuff along the bottom of the poncho.

The Inspiration behind the Design

I've always wanted my own poncho but I didn't like the style traditionally used with the triangular shape - as a shorter person, I try to avoid anything that literally points out my short legs!

As always, I wanted to create a garment design that would be size inclusive and flattering whatever body is rocking the style! This pattern comes in sizes XS-5XL and you can adjust the size of the neck hole for a great fit too!

As soon as I felt the WeCrochet Wonderfluff, I knew it was the perfect yarn for this type of project. The natural fibres combined with the fluffiness of the yarn make it a match made in heaven!

I will say that the yarn is not the easiest to frog or undo your mistakes in, but you can by slowly taking your time by undoing each stitch. I had plenty of practice with this design as one point I had missed a stitch 4 rows back! It was testing on my patience, but it was possible!

Access the printable PDF for this AND all my other patterns for just £7.50 per month!
