Mesh Stitch Boarder | Crochet Blanket Edging

Adding an edging to your crochet blankets finishes your project to perfection – there are so many different options available, it can be hard to choose.

This edging design was created and used in the Jolly Holiday Blanket crochet along, to create a corresponding crochet edging for filet crochet blankets.

This edging can be used to add an open detail on any crochet blanket, it is worked with a stitch multiple of 2, and even with it’s open-stitch nature, is more stable that it looks, with addition of the twisted stitches.

In this tutorial, the crochet blanket squares have been joined using the Mesh Stitch Join, but which ever joining method you’ve used, if you’re stitch multiple is divisible by 2, this edging pattern will work.

Choosing your Colours

This crochet boarder can be worked in 1 colour, letting the texture of the twisted stitches speak for itself, or you can begin to add the edging in the same colour as your join and use a contrasting colour  for the final round to make those twists pop!
