Sleeves Cable & Crossed Cardigan

The sleeves created for this crochet cardigan pattern are designed to be inset into the armholes which reduces the bulk of fabric under the arms as creates a better, comfort fit.

Sleeves | Cable & Crossed Crochet Cardigan

The tapered shape of these sleeves create a flattering fit and silhouette, but it does mean the pattern varies greatly depending on which size cardigan you are creating.

The sleeves are designed to sit on the wrist, and the calculations are based on the Yarn Craft Council’s standard body sizes to ensure the correct average arm length from the shoulder to cuff.

As the sleeves are sewn into the shoulder and armhole shaping, they are stitched into both row ends and stitches.

They are worked flat, and from the bottom up. If you have a longer body shape, you can choose to add an additional ribbed cuff, or work additional rows at the top of the sleeve design.

JOIN THE CAL

The Cable & Crossed Cardigan pattern will be releasing as a crochet along, with a different section of the pattern releasing each week.

There is never any pressure to keep up with the releasing of the pattern sections – but it can be fun to try! Below you will find a list of when the pattern elements will release.

Cable & Crossed CAL Schedule

Each pattern section will have it’s own video tutorial to help you complete your cardigan with absolute confidence.

What size are you making?

Due to the nature of the sleeve design, to ensure the sleeve will fit the armhole designed, it’s important to follow the written pattern, only adding additional rows at the top without further increasing to ensure it can be sewn in place.

Take a moment to go through the pattern and note where the stitch counts for your size will be written – they will be in the following size order:

  • XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

Where – (the dash)is used, this means no stitches are worked for this size and you should continue on to the next part of the pattern, as directed. You will find this used in the pattern sections for the neckline options and the sleeves.
